2020 was a tough year for all of us due to the COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions. However, we tried to organize several online activities with our followers who are thinking of a career in IT. We shared our experiences, knowledge and perspectives on emerging technologies in various areas of IT.
Let's have a look at what we did in 2020 as WeCode Platform.
Courses
Introduction to Python
We organized an "Introduction to Python" course which ran for two months. The topics of the course were "Foundations of the Python programming language" and "Basic programming examples in Python". A total of 10 participants successfully completed the course.
Algorithms and data structures
We completed a three-month "Algorithms and Data Structures" course and, as a continuation of it, started a "Java Programming Language" course. These courses were prepared in Turkish. We had 30 participants from Turkey, Europe and Canada.
Introduction to coding
We completed an "Introduction to Coding" course with over 20 students living in Finland who have immigrant backgrounds.

Professional support
Marketim.fi
In 2020, we built a website named marketim.fi and published its Android app, Marketim, on the Google Play Store. On the website and in the app, users can search over 1,000 halal products that can be found in Finland's shops. We are actively expanding the database by adding more halal products.
Website maintenance
Our web development specialists built several websites for NGOs and platforms and took care of their updates and maintenance: finpolar.fi, skyry.fi, wecodeplatform.com, together.fi and hizmetten.com.
Platform affairs
Article project
Our project of writing IT articles, to make "WeCode Platform" known worldwide, has continued. The articles written by our IT developers are published on wecodeplatform.com, and their number has already reached 40.
Advanced IT topics
As the developers who make up WeCode Platform, we continue to run sessions in which each of us presents an advanced IT concept from our own field.
Digital literacy project
We started setting up a new project whose goal is to introduce immigrants who have recently moved to Finland to digital literacy.
Thank you for your interest, and happy new year!
